With
my lengthened foredeck, the fore bulkhead is 14 inches
beyond the end of the cockpit opening, so a bulkhead
hatch was always going to be too hard to get at. The
plan was to put in a hatch on both sides of the
foredeck, but on cutting the first opening it became
apparent that the small space forward is easily
accessed from this single hatch, so I left it at one.
In case anyone is wondering, I had altered the plan
locations of the forward deck beams when I installed
them to give myself a bit more room for this hatch.
